In total, Porsche built 134,689 units of the 924 and 924 Turbo and 16,282 units of the 924 S. From its market launch, the 924 had a six-year warranty against rusting through from the inside - a unique feature at the time. In 1981, the 924 even got galvanised bodywork. Because of this, as well as the indestructible technology, forty-five years after its introduction, a remarkably large number of 924 models are still driving around.
The Porsche 924 2.0 Coupé in question is from 1980. On 30 December 1980, the 924 was sold at Gottfried Schultz in Essen, Germany. Here it was driven around for several years and then still ended up in Dusseldorf. In 1997, the Porsche was first registered on Dutch plates. In 2005, it came into the possession of its last owner. This means that the 924 has been owned by its last owner for the last 18 years. This owner has maintained and cared for it well every year. This is also reflected in the current condition of the car.
The bodywork is a beautiful "diamond silver metallic" against black upholstery. The black headliner, door panels, gear lever cover and more, are still of nice quality. Underneath, the car features the original 14-inch alloy wheels. It is equipped with electric mirrors, fog lights, spare wheel, toolkit, and more.
Under the bonnet, there is a well-run 2litre in-line four-cylinder. This engine block is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. It shifts smoothly and trouble-free. The Porsche recently underwent a service in which the rear brake cylinders, brake linings, battery and engine oil + filter were renewed. In terms of documentation, various inspections from previous years are present, along with the original service booklet including stamps and more.
