The Volkswagen Beetle had a number of influencers and collaborators, including engineer Josef Ganz, who is often credited with creating the concept. At the time, he was already contributing to the development of Daimler-Benz and BMW cars, and his 1934 "Standard Superior" had a similar shape and look to the "Bug. Ganz was not a favorite in Germany, and the project was assigned to Ferdinand Porsche, who then promoted the design. Many of the design leads came from Tatra, an acknowledgment they received after the conclusion of a successful lawsuit at the end of the war.
A total of 21,529,464 units of the Beetle were produced. In 2003, the Beetle was the second best-selling car in the world, next to the Volkswagen Golf. The last classic Volkswagen Beetle was built on July 30, 2003 in Puebla, Mexico.

This beautiful Beetle was originally delivered in 1977 in Belgium. Shortly after being owned by this first owner, it was imported into the Netherlands. He was first registered in 1979 on Dutch registration. This owner, like the previous ones, did not keep it for long. He went to the 3rd owner in 1980. This is still the current owner. He has owned the Beetle for more than 42 years! During these decades it has always been very well maintained.

In the early 90s began the complete body-off restoration of the Beetle. This took about 5 years, but this is reflected in the quality that is still visible today. This restoration is fully documented. This includes invoices as well as various photo reports. During the restoration it was professionally painted in the original Mars red color. The chassis and body parts were all thoroughly sandblasted and hand painted in 2-component paint. The seats and rear seat were reupholstered. Security features such as an immobilizer and alarm have also been installed.

The engine and transmission function without any problems. The chrome details are in nice condition and form a neat and classic combination together with the striking red paint. The underside is very nice and hard. The Beetle has an original odometer reading of only 98,948 kilometers.

The extensive documentation includes the original manuals and many invoices including the old registration certificates part 3 from 1979 - 1996 that were issued every year at the time. There are also several invoices of the restoration and 2 photo albums of the process. It has recently had both a new MOT and a major service at a VW Beetle specialist. New tires were also mounted.
