The PV544 was produced parallel to the Amazon. Although the Amazon was intended as a successor to the popular Volvo PV444, which was a real "people's car", the Amazon turned out to be too luxurious and (therefore) too expensive for many PV444 drivers. As an interim solution, Volvo came up with the PV544. It was not until 1965 that the 544 was replaced by the Amazon Favorit, a "stripped-down" version of the Amazon.

The 544 was a modernized version of the Volvo PV444 and, in terms of technology, was actually a different car. Both cars clearly come from the same Volvo PV series in terms of appearance and body. The differences between the 544 and the 444 mainly consist of:

more modern technology,
larger glass surface,
larger taillights,
Modern grille.
The car was available in three trim levels: Favorit, Special and Sport.

This Volvo is originally from Sweden and got a Dutch registration in 1995. Before the car came to the Netherlands, the Volvo was restored in Sweden.

This PV544 comes with a binder with a lot of documentation and workshop notes. The drum brakes have recently been adjusted and the master cylinder has been overhauled.
In addition, the rear springs, rear shock absorbers and muffler have been replaced.

Nice ''daily driver' to drive, with some cosmetic imperfections to the paintwork.
