The original Morgan sports car was named 4/4, which means 4 wheels and 4 cylinders (as opposed to the 2-cylinder 3-wheelers Morgan used to produce). In 1950 it was joined by a more powerful model called Plus 4. What made the Morgan famous, however, was the 1968 Plus 8, which introduced Rover's 3.5-litre alloy V8 in a chassis adapted from Plus 4. With 161 horsepower to carry on. to propel a car weighing just 900 kilos, the fastest accelerating British car ever. 0-60 mph was reached in just 6.7 seconds, although the wind-blocking form started to work against acceleration from 100 mph, eventually getting the job done at 124 mph. Following their footprint, TVR and Marcos also started using Rover V8s on their small sports cars to deliver big performance.
From January 1987, the Morgan + 8 was equipped with a single exhaust system. The new system came about because the car had to comply with increasingly strict regulations for noise emissions, both in the United Kingdom and in other countries. A pleasant side effect of this is that it appears that the performance of the engine has improved somewhat, compared to the previous dual exhaust system.
This example was ordered new in 1987 by an English Major. Soldiers in service at the time did not have to pay tax on their car. For example, pilots bought luxury cars because of the attractive price. This was the same case with the 1st owner of this Morgan. This Major was stationed at an airbase in Limburg. In the letters present, which have been exchanged between the owner and Morgan Motor Company Limited, you can see what the included options were and how the order of this Morgan took place.
There are different types of options available such as; a leather suitcase, 2 Lucas fog lights, side screens, 2 mirrors, suitcase rack, sports steering wheel and a beige leather upholstery. The Plus 8 was delivered in a Connaught Green paint. Full documentation is available. These are papers such as; invoices, original purchase invoice and a manual.
The Morgan + 8 is in a good driving condition. The Rover V8 performs well and enjoyable. Optically there are some points that deserve room for improvement. Both in the interior and the exterior.
The Plus 8 produces a great sound that is like music to your ears!
We can also arrange the export documents and transport for you. An insurance for 2 weeks is also possible!
