MG B Limited Edition 1979
• Original 49600 miles
• Overhauled gearbox
• 4 new Tires
• Original condition, damage free
By the mid 1970s, the appearance of the MG B sports car was changed as a result of the new Crash regulations. The British automaker decided to switch to rubber bumpers, both front and rear. Furthermore, the engines were adapted to the stricter emission regulations. Despite the changes, sales held up and the company sold as many cars as it could build.
In 1979 the owner of MG, British Leyland, released a Limited Edition of the B. The performance, however, remained the same, but it got a nice set of alloy wheels, cool silver striping, a front spoiler, a leather-wrapped three-spoke steering wheel and a nice commemorative plaque on the dashboard.
6,668 units of this edition were built in 1979 and 1980 and is a fitting farewell to the long-produced MG B. The Limited Edition is a special car and deserves to be regarded as such.
This 1979 MG B Limited Edition roadster has only driven 49600 miles. The car has been well maintained, is in original condition and looks fresh. It is a well built car that is fun to drive. The engine runs nicely and the new gearbox with overdrive provides a smooth shifting, allowing the car to easily keep up with today's traffic.
The brake booster also contributes to safe driving. Many new parts have been purchased and fitted in recent years: a heating engine, radiator, water pump, Lucas battery 68 Ah, 4 new tires and the aforementioned gearbox and shifting.
The car also contains a spare tire with cover, the original jack, a Philips 593 radio and a ground switch. The original paint is in excellent condition with hardly any signs of use, the vinyl soft top is intact and well-fitting. The chrome luggage rack on the boot lid in combination with the sturdy 14” Limited Edition rims and the large new 195x70 tires give the car the sought-after robust appearance.
This MG B Limited Edition is a very good car, one to take on the road.
