De MGB kwam op de markt als tweedeurs sportwagen die van 1962 tot 1980 werd geproduceerd door de British Motor Corporation (BMC), later de Austin-Morris-divisie van British Leyland, als een viercilinder sportwagen met softtop. Later kwamen varianten als de MGB GT driedeurs 2+2 coupé (1965-1980), de zescilinder sportwagen en coupé MGC (1967-1969), en de achtcilinder 2+2 coupé, de MGB GT V8 (1973- 76) op de markt.

Ter vervanging van de MGA in 1962, ging de productie van de MGB en zijn varianten door tot 1980. De verkoop van de MGB, MGC en MGB GT V8 samen bedroeg 523.836 auto's.
De ontwikkeling van de MGB begon al in 1958 met het prototype dat bekend staat onder de codenaam Abingdon; MG EX205. In structuur was de auto in 1962 een vooruitstrevend, modern ontwerp.

De zeer uitgebreide goed gedocumenteerde historie, bestaande uit een ordner, met onder andere het originele ‘Heritage Trust Certificate’, rekeningen, fotoreportage, revisie rapport en de restauratieverslaglegging.

Ook de kleurencombinatie is zeer smaakvol te noemen, de carrosserie is gespoten in het Maroon red. Een zeer fraai contrast met het zwarte interieur.

Oorspronkelijk is deze B GT MkII nieuw geleverd in het Verenigd Koninkrijk. En sinds 2000 op Nederlands kenteken geregistreerd. Van de hele historie zijn veel mijlenstanden bijgehouden in een logboek.

Deze in zeer goede staat verkerende MG is van 2002 tot 2003 volledig ‘Bare metal, nuts & bolts’ gerestaureerd. Hiervan is een zeer uitgebreid rapport aanwezig. Het spuitwerk is nu ruim 20 jaar later nog steeds in een zeer goede conditie. De carrosserie heeft geweldige passingen van de dorpels, spatborden, portieren, motorkap en het kofferdeksel.

De uitgebreide motorrevisie inclusief een upgrade van het onderstel en het interieur is in 2016 gedaan door KG-Revisie uit Markelo.

The MGB entered the market as a two-door sports car produced from 1962 to 1980 by the British Motor Corporation (BMC), later the Austin-Morris division of British Leyland, as a four-cylinder soft-top sports car. Later variants such as the MGB GT three-door 2+2 coupé (1965-1980), the six-cylinder sports car and coupé MGC (1967-1969), and the eight-cylinder 2+2 coupé, the MGB GT V8 (1973-76) came on the market. .

Replacing the MGA in 1962, production of the MGB and its variants continued until 1980. Sales of the MGB, MGC and MGB GT V8 combined totaled 523,836 units.

This MG is in very good condition and was fully restored from 2002 to 2003 in 'Bare metal, nuts & bolts'. A very extensive report is available on this. More than 20 years later, the paintwork is still in very good condition. The body has great fits of the sills, fenders, doors, hood and trunk lid.

The extensive engine overhaul, including an upgrade of the chassis and interior, was done in 2016 by KG-Revisie from Markelo.
