Eric Vandewalle richtte het merk op in 1967. Het begon bij zijn eerste buggy. Deze terreinwagen had een houten opbouw. Vandewalle ontmoette op een gegeven moment de heer Georges Cleririnckx. Georges was bekend met het werken met kunststoffen zoals polyester. Dit resulteerde erin dat ze samen begonnen met het bouwen van auto's door middel van polyester carrosserieën. De eerste 3 letters van beide achternamen werden toegepast in de titel die wij tot de dag van vandaag kennen; Vanclee.

Uiteindelijk kwam het einde in zicht van de offroad- en snelwegen voor sportwagens. Dit was nadat de markt instortte tijdens de recessie van de vroege jaren tachtig. Vervolgens bouwde Vanclee tot 1989 de Mungo. Dit werd gedaan op basis van de 2CV. De 600 Mungo-, Ernet-, Ernu- en Rusler-modellen waren allemaal gebaseerd op het Citroën 2CV-chassis. De originele tweecilinder boxermotor met een cilinderinhoud van 602 cc dreef de voorwielen aan. Deze auto's hebben een kunststof carrosserie met een keuze uit stof of hardtops aan de achterzijde. De 600 Mungo is 25 cm korter dan de Citroën Méhari.

Het gaat hier om een oranje Vanclee Mungo uit 1988. Hij is uitgevoerd in een opvallende en unieke oranje lak, wat er nog netjes uitziet. Dit is samen met zowel het witte dak als de witte hardtop een goede combinatie. In het interieur is er zwarte bekleding te vinden. Deze is nog in een fraaie staat. Onderaan de auto zijn er nog de originele witte 15" velgen te vinden.

Je kan deze Belgische auto op drie verschillende manieren gebruiken; met een hard-top, met een soft-top of zelfs als een pick-up. Er zijn zoveel mogelijkheden met deze interessante Vanclee. Een aantal jaar terug zijn er veel technische punten aangepakt voor het onderhoud. Zo zijn bijvoorbeeld zowel de remmen voor als achter gereviseerd: nieuwe remcilinders en hoofdremcilinder, nieuwe remschoenen en remblokken. Hiernaast werd er nog een nieuwe uitlaat gemonteerd, de carburateur gereviseerd en nog veel meer.

Kortom, dit is een unieke en fraaie Vanclee die klaar staat voor meer avonturen!

Eric Vandewalle founded the brand in 1967. It started with his first buggy. This off-road vehicle had a wooden body. At some point, Vandewalle met Mr Georges Cleririnckx. Georges was familiar with working with plastics such as polyester. This resulted in them starting to build cars together using polyester bodies. The first 3 letters of both surnames were applied in the title we know to this day; Vanclee.

Eventually, off-road and highway sports cars came to an end. This was after the market collapsed during the recession of the early 1980s. Vanclee then built the Mungo until 1989. This was done on the basis of the 2CV. The 600 Mungo, Ernet, Ernu and Rusler models were all based on the Citroën 2CV chassis. The original two-cylinder boxer engine with a displacement of 602cc drove the front wheels. These cars had a plastic body with a choice of fabric or hardtops at the rear. The 600 Mungo was 25 cm shorter than the Citroën Méhari.

This is a 1988 orange Vanclee Mungo. It is finished in a striking and unique orange paint, which still looks neat. This, together with both the white roof and the white hardtop, is a good combination. The interior features black upholstery. This is still in nice condition. At the bottom of the car, you can still find the original white 15-inch rims.

You can use this Belgian car in three different ways; with a hard-top, with a soft-top or even as a pick-up. There are so many possibilities with this interesting Vanclee. A few years back, many technical points were addressed for maintenance. For instance, both front and rear brakes were overhauled: new brake cylinders and master cylinder, new brake shoes and pads. On top of this, a new exhaust was fitted, the carburettor overhauled and much more.

In short, this is a unique and beautiful Vanclee ready for more adventures!
