The Jaguar E-type saw the light of day in 1961 as the successor to the famous XK 120, 140 and 150 series. The E-type was presented at the Geneva Salon on March 15 that year and was a hit because of its sublime design and technical concept.
Did you know that at the introduction in Geneva, the E-type “showcar” was ready just in time to be presented.
In order to arrive in Geneva in time, the prototype had to make a nighttime madness drive from Coventry to Geneva under its own power with Jaguar PR man Bob Berry behind the wheel. Bob Berry departed at 7:00 PM on March 14, 1961. The weather was very bad and after the ferry many country roads, mountain roads and passes had to be overcome. At speeds well over 200 kilometers per hour, Bob raced toward his target, all alone with the E-type prototype. At 11:40 am Bob arrived with the E-type undamaged in Geneva at the local Jaguar dealer where the car was being prepared for the press presentation one hour and twenty minutes later at the Salon; it succeeded, and the Jaguar E-type became the crowd puller of the 1961 motor show.
The design of the Series I E-type as presented in 1961 is an extraordinary beauty. Look at the many beautiful details such as the hood, the headlights, the taillights, the cutout of the wheel arches and the rear flanks and realize that you are looking at absolute, timeless, beauty in automotive design.
Technically, the E-type is also a jewel; the body is a steel monocoque with a front bulkhead mounted subframe housing the engine and suspension. At the rear, under the monocoque, we find a second subframe to which the differential and rear suspension are attached. The E-type is equipped with independent suspension and disc brakes all round. The rear disc brakes are placed against the differential to save unsprung weight.

Later updates of the E-Type were officially called “Series 2” and “Series 3”. Previously produced models were later known as “Series 1” and “Series 1½”. Production ceased in 1974 after 70,000 units had been sold, including some 23,000 units of the Series II.

The Jaguar E-Type Series II was produced from 1968 – 1970. Striking external differences with its predecessor were the headlamps without a transparent cover, a bumper curved around the rear, relocated and larger direction indicators at the front, rear lights under the bumper, better cooling due to a enlarged opening and dual electric fans and improved brakes. The six-cylinder engine produced 210 hp.
The interior also underwent a number of adjustments and was equipped with adjustable seats, the dashboard was adapted to meet American safety requirements.

The E-Type Series II was succeeded in 1971 by the Series III.

The color combination is also very tasteful, the body is painted in Regency Red. A very nice contrast with the beige leather interior. The black convertible top is fitted with a cover.

The paintwork and bodywork are in great condition. The fits of the sills, fenders, doors, hood and trunk lid are very nice.

This E-type was originally delivered new in Washington USA. And registered on Austrian registration since 2015.
