Hochkiss cars were made in Paris between 1903 and 1955. Founded as a weapons manufacturer in 1871 by the American expatriate Benjamin Berkeley Hotchkiss. The brand logo, a pair of crossed cannons, refers to the company's past history.

The Anjou came with a large limousine-style body, significantly modified compared to its predecessors and characteristic of the time. A small number of two-door coupes were produced, as well as a two-door convertible 'Anthéor'.

There was a choice of two engine sizes. Most cars came with a four-cylinder 2,312 cc water-cooled unit with one or two carburetors at the customer's choice. A longer nose version, however, allowed for the larger six-cylinder 3,485cc water-cooled engine that promoted the car in the stratospheric 20CV load class, but increased its claimed maximum power from 72hp to 120hp, with a corresponding increase in claimed maximum speed of 130hp. km/h to 145 km/h.

In addition to the 5,465 Anjous produced, the company built about 40 of the 2-door convertible Anthéor models.

In 1929, Hotchkiss proved the reliability of his cars on the Montlhéry circuit, where they broke 33 records in 16 days. Hotchkiss won the Monte Carlo Rally in 1932, 1933, 1934, 1939, 1949 and 1950. Also in 1934 the Paris–Nice race was won.

The Anjou 2050 offered by us has a very extensive well-documented history, consisting of several files, including invoices, correspondence and restoration reports.

The color combination is also very tasteful, the body is painted in Racing Green with a contrasting red trim. A very nice contrast with the biscuit leather interior which is finished with green piping. The Cashmere headlining is also very beautiful. Three-point seat belts were fitted as a modification during the restoration. The roll-up mechanism is neatly concealed.

This RHD Anjou was originally delivered new in the United Kingdom. The Hotchkiss has been registered in Switzerland since 1993.

This Hotchkiss, in very good condition, was fully restored to 'Bare metal, nuts & bolts' in 1994. A very extensive report is available on this. The paintwork is now almost 30 years later still in very good condition. The body has good fits of the sills, fenders, doors, hood and trunk lid.

If you as a Hotchkiss enthusiast are looking for a beautiful and great driving Anjou 2050, then this is the time to enjoy this car.
