In 1975 the 308 GTB was introduced in Paris. Like its predecessor, the Dino 246 GT, it was designed by Pininfarina. There are therefore also several style elements in the 308 GTB that came from the Dino 246 GT.

The 308 was one of Ferrari's most famous models. So well-known that in 2004 it ended up in 5th place of the “Top Sports Cars of the 1970s”. A classic sports car from Ferrari? It must have a V12, you might think. In contrast, it was equipped with a few less cylinders. Namely a V8. For a Ferrari sports car, a V12 was common, but it was given a different twist for a change. This started with its predecessor, the Dino. People first had to get used to it with the Dino. At first this was less than expected, but the follower in form of the 308 GTB made up for it all again. He performed very well in the market. Shortly after its first showing, the 308 GTB had become very popular among enthusiasts. For nearly 20 years, the Ferrari has been its best-selling model.

Looking at the specs, this isn't just any 308 GTB. From 1975 to 1980, a total of 2,897 cars were produced. 712 of these were the rare fiberglass 'Vetroresina' models. The remaining 2185 models were delivered in a more regular and heavier steel version. The exact number produced is one of Ferrari's many mysteries. The original number is supposed to be 808 pieces, but because of the lack of clarity this cannot be traced back correctly and it was claimed that only 712 were produced. About 400 of these were sent links.

A Vetroresina differs from a steel model by:
- Reversing lights in the bumper instead of in the indicators
- There is a black border on the A pillar to connect the panels
- The panel between the rear lights is straight and has no recess for a license plate
- Always has a single exhaust
This is not the only thing that makes the car special. So it is not only a Vetroresina version, but it is also performed in Azzurro Metallizzato. This original light blue metallic paint was very rare on this model, which makes it very rare and therefore sought-after. The engine has a dry sump system which was only supplied with the European cars. The car was delivered new to an owner in Sienna, Italy and the car has the coveted ACI certificate.

Our car has just been restored and the car has been repainted in its Azzurro Metallizzato colour. During the disassembly and assembly we checked the car for the original fiberglass panels with the factory numbers on the back of these panels. All buttons and lights also work, which is less obvious with the Vetroresina models than the steel models. The correct hoses, clamps and mounting material have also been used. All 4 rims still have the original black 7 1/2 x 14 Campagnolo letters etched on the magnesium. The windows are also original all around and the original "California" side mirror is present. To keep as much original as possible, we have only cleaned the carpets and the dashboard edge is also in very nice condition. This is a good indicator of low mileage in a Ferrari 308. The car has been registered in the Netherlands since 2019.

This makes it a very rare and sought after example. A unique opportunity for an interesting investment.
