BMW Z1

The BMW Z1 was designed in 1986 by Harm Lagaay. The car, which was presented in 1987, produced exactly 8,000 units between 1989 and 1991. More than three-quarters of these were sold in its home market, Germany. The most striking feature of this car was the doors, which could sink into the bodywork. That body consisted entirely of Thermoplastic, molded into body panels by General Electric. The car was also the first car in the world that could achieve 1g in cornering with standard tires, due in part to the engine hood in inverted wing profile and the transverse exhaust that also had an inverted wing profile.

A 2.5-liter 6-in-line provided propulsion. It produced 171 hp at 5,800 rpm and 218 Nm of torque. The car had a five-speed manual transmission and could reach 225 km/h. The sprint from 0 to 100 km/h took 7.8 seconds.

Initially, only 4,000 Z1s were to be produced but once the car arrived at dealerships there were already more than 5,000 orders and it was decided to almost double production.

The very extensive well-documented history, consisting of a binder, which includes the code card, workshop notes, registration receipts and on-board documentation.

The color combination is also very tasteful, the bodywork is painted in the ''Urgrün''. A very nice contrast to the leather interior. Very nice is also black convertible top.

Originally, this Z1 was delivered new in Germany, then sold to Belgium and since 2002 registered in the Netherlands. Of the entire history, all mileage has been meticulously recorded in a logbook.

The bodywork is tight, flawless, virtually scratch free The doors, sills, fenders, hood and trunk lid have correct fits.
The paintwork is in very good condition.
Recently, the Z1 has been serviced. This includes replacing the timing belt and water pump.
