Original Dutch Austin-Healey 100M BN1 in perfect condition. Executed in the beautiful '100S' color combination Ivory white over Obelia blue with blue leather interior.

The story started after Le Mans '53, with a tuning kit that turned a Healey 100 into a street racer. This proved so effective that Donald Healey decided to supply a number of 100 series ex works with all those modifications. The 100M is now one of the most sought after classic Healeys.

Donald Healey was a man who realized better than anyone how important motorsport is if you want to market a sports car. He put that strategy into practice with gusto, and thanks to that, the 100M and 100S were born, the two most desirable Austin-Healeys in the brand's history. The S is a lightweight, thoroughbred racing machine, of which only 50 were built, and considered the holy grail among Austin-Healeys enthusiasts. Next in line is a less radically modified Healey, the 100M, of which 640 have been built. Think of the 100S and 100M as a race car that you could use on the street.

The 100M offered by us went back to Healey factory in 1956 to fit the 'Le Mans Kit with 100M engine'. This seems obvious, but it isn't. Donald Healey has started by supplying only a booster set, the Le Mans Engine Modification Kit, with which a buyer could give his 100 more power. You could do that yourself, or you could have your dealer turn your 100 into a 100M. Later, the factory started to build complete 100Ms itself.

While the factory was being set up for series production of the first Austin-Healey, type BN1, the Donald Healey Motor Company prepared several prototypes for competition purposes. The big goal was the 24 Hours of Le Mans in June 1953, not to win, that was too early, but to put the new sports car brand in the spotlight as widely as possible. Healey entered two 100s, which were only lightly primed. They arrived at the start of the big race as they drove on the street, with bumpers and all. The windscreen had been replaced by a small racing window, there was more light on it and the obligatory belt was stretched over the hood. The engines were beefed up, with larger H6 SUs, not 1½ but 1¾ inches, a 'fast' camshaft, an early ignition and a so-called cold air box instead of the two filters that direct cold air from the nose of the Healey to to propel the SUs. They also had a longer final drive to bring the revs down on the long high-speed sections.

The Le Mans Healeys had just over 100 horsepower, compared to the 90 of the standard models.

This Healey 100M is equipped with its original Le Mans headlights, Derrington wooden steering wheel, 100M badges, Cold air box, Lucas Dipping interior mirror, spotlights and European counters and front disc brakes. The 2660cc 4-cylinder engine has been completely overhauled, with a 'Dennis Welch' aluminum cylinder head and aluminum oil pan.

The very nice color combination of Ivory White over Obelia blue with a blue leather interior with white piping and black carpet. The dark blue soft top, tonneau cover and side windows complete the picture.
This beautiful '100M' was sold new in the Netherlands by the dealer in Heerlen.
After a 'hibernation' of about 40 years, this Austin Healey was kissed awake in 2001. After which the car was completely restored to top condition. After this top restoration, it goes without saying that the paint and bodywork are in great condition. The fits of the sills, fenders, doors, hood, trunk lid and grille are perfect.

If you as an Austin Healey enthusiast are looking for a beautiful and great driving 100M, now is the time to enjoy this rarity.
