In de jaren tachtig was elk spoor van het karakter dat de Amerikaanse prestatieauto's uit de jaren zestig definieerde, bij wet verdwenen, nou ja, bijna. Diep in de hoeken van de engineering- en marketingafdelingen van autobedrijven verstopten zich opstandige mensen die vrij onschuldige reguliere modellen konden transformeren in iets dat bijna plezierig was.

De Trans Am kon geleverd worden met een 2.5-liter viercilinder tot en met de 5.0-liter V-8. Opnieuw optioneel: de TPI-versie (Tuned Port Injection), nu verkrijgbaar met een handmatige of automatische versnellingsbak.

Liefhebbers van topprestaties kregen een nieuwe keuze: een beestachtige, zo niet smerige, GTA-vertolking van de langlevende Trans Am. Naast dergelijke uiterlijke items als een herziene spoiler en rockerrokken, omvatte de $ 2.700 GTA-optie de grootste V-8 die in jaren onder Firebird-kappen te vinden was: 350-cid (5,7-liter), opgetild uit Corvette, met getunede poort injectie.

Deze Trans Am GTA verkeert in een prachtige originele staat. De auto heeft alle originele carrosseriepanelen en GM-fabriekslak behouden. Hij is geleverd in een rode ‘Flame red metallic’ lak met ‘Gold metallic’ accenten en details. Het stoffen interieur is uitgevoerd in de donkerrode ‘Burgundy’ kleur. Het gehele interieur is origineel GM en is als nieuw. Het dashboard, de deurpanelen, het stuur, de meters, de radio en de hemelbekleding zijn perfect en hebben geen aandacht nodig. Deze auto heeft de dakconsole met kaartverlichting, boordcomputer en automatisch kantelbare achteruitkijkspiegel. Het elektrisch neerklapbare luik aan de achterkant is perfect vastgemaakt en trekt het luik naar beneden en vergrendelt het zoals ontworpen door GM.

Dit exemplaar is in 2020 geïmporteerd naar Nederland vanuit Amerika. Dit is aantoonbaar met de facturen die aanwezig zijn.

De wielen zijn in de originele GM speciale GTA ‘Cross-lace-style’ en zien er als nieuw uit. De lugs hebben nog alle doppen, ventielen hebben zelfs de originele grijze doppen. De remmen zijn origineel en werken goed.

Meer gewilde aspecten die aanwezig zijn, zijn dingen zoals; airconditioning, elektrische sloten, elektrische ramen en een grafische equalizer.

Deze auto heeft de grootste motor die in 1987 werd aangeboden met zijn 5,7 liter (350 V8) die ongeveer 245 pk had. De transmissie is de GM voorraad automaat met overdrive. De motor en transmissie werken als nieuw met tonnen vermogen en koppel met mooie scherpe schakelingen. Het uitlaatsysteem is de originele GM waarmee de auto is gebouwd en heeft nog steeds de originele katalysator

Er zijn diverse importfacturen aanwezig. Hiernaast is er nog een ‘Certificate of Title’ uit 1993 aanwezig voor de staat Indiana.

By the 1980s, any trace of the character that defined the American performance cars of the 1960s was, by law, gone, well, almost. Deep in the corners of the engineering and marketing departments of auto companies hid rebellious people who could transform fairly innocent regular models into something almost enjoyable.

The Trans-Am was available with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder up to the 5.0-liter V-8. Optional again: the TPI (Tuned Port Injection) version, now available with a manual or automatic gearbox.

Performance enthusiasts got a new choice: a beastly, if not filthy, GTA rendition of the long-lived Trans Am. In addition to such exterior items as a revised spoiler and rocker skirts, the $2,700 GTA option included the largest V-8 produced in years. under Firebird hoods was: 350-cid (5.7-litre), lifted from Corvette, with tuned port injection.

This Trans Am GTA is in a beautiful original condition. The car has retained all original body panels and GM factory paint. It was delivered in a red 'Flame red metallic' paint with 'Gold metallic' accents and details. The fabric interior is finished in the dark red 'Burgundy' colour. The entire interior is original GM and is like new. The dashboard, door panels, steering wheel, gauges, radio and headliner are perfect and need no attention. This car has the overhead console with map lighting, on-board computer and automatically tilting rear-view mirror. The power fold down hatch at the rear is pinned down perfectly and pulls the hatch down and locks it as designed by GM.

This copy was imported to the Netherlands from America in 2020. This is demonstrable with the invoices that are present.

The wheels are in the original GM special GTA 'Cross-lace-style' and look like new. The lugs still have all caps, valves even have the original gray caps. The brakes are original and work well.

More sought after aspects that are present are things like; air conditioning, electric locks, electric windows and a graphic equalizer.

This car has the largest engine offered in 1987 with its 5.7 liter (350 V8) which had about 245 hp. The transmission is the GM stock automatic with overdrive. The engine and transmission work like new with tons of power and torque with nice crisp shifts. The exhaust system is the original GM the car was built with and still has the original catalytic converter
